My son-in-law is in the Patriot Guards in the Asheville, NC area. Two years ago while visiting my family, my husband and I had the privilege of welcoming home our WWII vets from that area from their visit to Washington DC. A band played, we all stood with large flags and greeted these men and some women as they came into the terminal. Many of them cried and said they weren't greeted like this when they returned from the war. My husband a Vietnam Vet was wearing a baseball cap with Navy on it and as he saluted a Navy vet from WWII who happened to be wearing his hat from boot camp, this man saluted him right back and said thank you because you served too. We felt so honored and so blessed to be a part of this wonderful day.
