    1. Re: [BKLYN] Brooklyn OBIT search?

    3. Dear Barb, This is a matter of plodding through each issue searching for the page with obituaries. I started with the issue published on the date of your Annie's death. Newspapers published multiple editions each day, so sometimes there will be an obit in a later edition, even for the date of death. Click on "Add More Info" and enter the date of death. Don't bother with the name data. That will bring up a little picture of a newspaper. Click on it. You can change the pages by clicking on the date and page info in red in the Task and Info Bar above the newspaper. You can do the same thing by clicking on the page tape than runs below the newspaper. Before I do this, I do what you did, I searched for specific names. It is much easier, and sometimes it works. I found it on page 3, 26 May 1886: DIED BURKE - On May 24, at the residence of her parents, 1670 Atlantic av, Brooklyn, ANNIE E. BURKE, aged 17 years. Interment in Calvary Thursday, 27th inst. May she rest in peace. (Irish papers please copy). I checked the subsequent Obit listings in case more information had been added. Sometimes it happens with much more info. Not on this one, sorry. Cheers, Mary Ann ---- mizscarlettny via <nybrooklyn@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > > > Dear Friends. > > Does anyone have suggestions for finding an Obit at the > > Brooklyn Newsstand>http://bklyn.newspapers.com/ ? > > I have these two Brooklyn BURKE interments lists and can't > > find even one OBIT for any of them! > > Looking for >24 MAY 1886 death of Annie B BURKE, age 17 > > taken from DC.
