Kathy and et al, I wrote St. Joseph's directly and got my mother's and aunt's records from 1917 in 1998. Instead of going through the Diocese, I researched the orphanage itself and arrived at the address below. The address I used then was: St. Joseph's Services For Children and Families 540 Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11217-1982 (718) 858-8700 They didn't have much but what they did have was great. You could call them and see if they are still this location. I hope this helps you. Ive spoken to Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens. They hold the records for St. Josephs but the records dont start until 1920 per the person who responded to my inquiry. Ive also talked to the Brooklyn Diocese office and they have nothing. Im trying to find the records for the above Mary born in 1887 to Hannah or Anna McLoughlin and John or Daniel McDermott.
