    3. Are you using NEW or Old ancestry? How to tell I have gotten many private emails since my post yesterday and realized a LOT of folks are still using the OLD version and don't realize they have to INTENTIONALLY sign on to the NEW version to see all the changes they have made. Ancestry has been VERY sneaky about this change. NO ONE got an email about the changes. The quickest way to tell is do a family view...if the background is WHITE you are still on the old version. If your profile page looks the same as it always has, you are still on the OLD version. The NEW ancestry has a black background on the family view. The NEW ancestry profile page is set up MUCH differently. To get to the NEW version to see what everyone is upset about, go to the upper R corner of ancestry where you see your user name and click on NEW Only then can you see the changes that have been made. Even then you cannot tell alll the problems unless you try to move around in it, do various functions you used to do to find all the problems with it. If you are still in the OLD version and everything looks like it always has-you are going to be in for the shock of your life when you sign on someday and you cannot see the ancestry we all know. I highly recommend anyone on ancestry do this--and really put the news view through it's paces... MOST people are NOT going to like what they see...and forget about all the handy functions you used to use--like printing a profile page (now called the FACTS page) Forget about trying to view the transcript version of a Census you have added, you can't Check out your story view--many people are finding the towns their ancestors are from are not recognized by ancestry computers so your ancestor who lived in "timbuctoo" may suddenly be living in New Zealand--I found one of MY folks there who lived in New York City If you find yourself liking the NEW version-I am happy for you. Make sure to put it through EVERY pace you can think of before deciding. The petition circulating is only asking that they offer BOTH methods of working in ancestry. again, here is the petition link...be sure you look at what boxes are auto checked and uncheck the ones you don't want. IF you accidentally get subscribed to the petition site, simply click on unsubscribe in the first email you get from them. I hope this clears up the confusion about WHY so many of us are upset Here is the petition website in case you deleted the email. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/600/803/575/save-ancestrycom-classic/ Joyce -- Researching Stephenson/Stevenson, Fleury, Heald, Lindelof, Young, Rubino, Cammarota, Mandracchia, Vaiarelli, Mulhern, Johnson, Haight, Erickson, Munson, Northrup, Sears, Camp, Gunn, Allen, Gorham, Plumb, Beard, Rogers, Eliot, Briscoe, Bradley, Mix, Wilmot, Pritchard, Mew, Stone, Sparke, Bayley, Bailey, Redfield, Redfin, Howland, Tilley, Sturgis, Hinckley, Kirk, Norton, Gerard, and many more...
