    1. [BKLYN] Kneib Obituary help Request ... more
    2. Re. my request for obituary help earlier this month, I want to thank everyone who responded on or off the list. I am still in the midst of an ongoing serious medical crisis with my husband, so I have not had the opportunity to respond to you before. Unfortunately, none of the links (Pro-Quest & NYTimes Archives) sent me did not open for me because I do not subscribe to either and both required login.. If any kind soul on the list does have subscription access, either personally or thru their library, and would be nice enough to see if they could find a death notice and/or obituary in the metro NYC area for any KNEIB, particularly : KNEIB, Herman,+ 18 November, 1892/Manhattan and wife, KNEIB, Barara, + 02 May, 1913/Manhattan I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Madeline

    3. I was able to check the NY Times for both dates I used the search for any newspaper for the year in general (newspapers.com) Other KEIB's show up for other years . I'll check on them later-any particular name? I know the frustration. I'm still unable to find anything for Catherine (your never going to find my maiden name not matter what} DONOHUE/DONOHUE On Jun 28, 2015, at 5:16 AM, madbovery@aol.com via wrote: > Re. my request for obituary help earlier this month, I want to thank everyone who responded on or off the list. 3. One place to begin searching for free Obit/Death Notices is to go to Message Boards by surname. This is a much overlooked source. http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?m=2&p=surnames.kneib&dc=50 Barb -----Original Message----- From: madbovery@aol.com via <nybrooklyn@rootsweb.com> To: nybrooklyn <nybrooklyn@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sun, Jun 28, 2015 8:16 am Subject: [BKLYN] Kneib Obituary help Request ... more Re. my request for obituary help earlier this month, I want to thank everyone who responded on or off the list. 1. [BKLYN] OBIT SEARCH + more> KNEIB

    3. Another way to find a free Obit/Death Notice online is to execute a Google search. This may not lead you to a full Obituary, but it may link you to the specific newspaper article, especially in the New York Times. This method may also lead you to scanned out-of-print books that include your ancestor's name, such as old directories, voter registrations, and court transcripts. In the case of Madeline's ancestor, I'd enter it into Google like this, no quotation marks> Herman Kneib in NY, NY RESULTS> 1) 1862 Trow's Directory> https://books.google.com/books?id=kJEtAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA471&lpg=PA471&dq=Herman+Kneib+in+NY,+NY&source=bl&ots=QSLYCyUnSR&sig=zFlINBHeovRleEaZKsJQaFoQb5g&hl=en&sa=X&ei=SQiQVfgtypuDBMT-ovAG&ved=0CE0Q6AEwCTgK#v=onepage&q=Herman%20Kneib%20in%20NY%2C%20NY&f=false 2) General Slocum Disaster ...lists a KNEIB Barb -----Original Message----- From: madbovery@aol.com via <nybrooklyn@rootsweb.com> If any kind soul on the list does have subscription access, either personally or thru their library, and would be nice enough to see ifthey could find a death notice and/or obituary in the metro NYC area for any KNEIB, Herman died 18 November, 1892/Manhattan KNEIB, Barara wife died 02 May, 1913/Manhattan I would be most appreciative.
