    3. Are non-genealogy posts allowed on the list? (Re: FLY the FLAG on Thursday). I'd rather not receive political messages when I subscribe to a subject specific list. Perhaps the list owner can answer the question for me, and possibly others. Thank you. Judy Herbert Today's Topics: 1. Re: 1933 Real Genie Brick Wall (Diane Jacobs) 2. Please join us in this FLY THE FLAG campaign and forward this to your address book friends, asking them to pass it on. THE PROGRAM: On Thursday, September 11th, 2008, display an American flag outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual can make it their duty to display an American flag on this seventh anniversary of our country's worst travesty. This is a gesture of unity to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends, and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who are fighting to preserve our cherished freedoms. In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag represents our country. Together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you. Some folks are choosing to drive with their car lights on. Others will wear red, white, and blue as statements of unity. God Bless You and God Bless America ! ************** Psssst...Have you heard the news? There's a new fashion blog, plus the latest fall trends and hair styles at StyleList.com. 3. Hi Judy, I am writing to you in full view of the entire list. I want you to know up front that what I say is strictly and I mean this sincerely strictly MY OPINION. I have been on many lists since the inception of Roots Web many years ago. I have been "doing" Genealogy searches here in the USA, the UK, Norway & Sweden and South Africa and Germany. The premise is on each list, Genealogy and the list owners stress this along very strongly with no flaming. If you don't have these rules it goes to just a chitty chat list. No one wants this as there are hundreds of mailing listS for just these things. So we all usually go along to get along. BUT, Sometimes emotions are involved and in this case a very strong emotion, one that has transcended all the decorum we expect to find. 9-11 shattered our world, so terribly that no one will ever be the same for it. So, in our pain we reach out on the anniversary of this horrific tragedy , to each other, to remind us one and all that we should never forget. We beat the drums of our patriotism loud and for all to hear and respond to. No other single act of war has been able to do this to our spirit. Well... maybe Pearl Harbor. I ask you in the spirit of the love of our country and our fellow man to put aside your aversion to what you are seeing on the list for a few days and let us come together in the spirit of love, friendship and genealogy to bask in each other's love of country and recall the lives lost of many of our listers. No this is not the place, but Yes, some rules shatter when horror hits. I remind you this is just me speaking and if you have issue, do so with me in private. Thank you for listening.
