That is true...I can pull up property tax information on line here, and can find out an awful lot about people...I did this once after interviewing a housekeeper and found out enough about them to follow my instincts and NOT hire her... There is a LOT of info out there, easily accessible. That is why when filling out forms etc, I always give a false telephone number. Also a lot of times, I'll give an email address that I don't use, so all the junk email fills up a screename mailbox that I don't bother with. (I have 7 screenames via AOL)...Something else interesting is that every time I purchase something on eBay, the scam e-mails and junk e-mails start in... There is no privacy on the internet, so you have to be crafty to keep some things secret...Your local govt is as much to blame. My husband applied for a business license for some ebay sales...and made the mistake of putting down our home telephone as a contact number...within weeks our phone was ringing off the hook... Occassionally, I will purposely misspell our name, or give some other wrong info (such as a typo would create) and then see how much junk mail I get with that info...You would be amazed at the number of places selling your info!!! That is why I have not included any info on my tree that could be helpful in someone actually tracing me.
