Hi List, I have just discovered that a branch of a family of interest to me spent time in Brooklyn in the 1850s. John McGUANE from County Clare, Ireland (probably from Kilrush) married Catherine Lynch in Brooklyn in 1854. The couple had four children - Daniel b8th April, 1855, Mary bc1858, Sarah bc1860 and Catherine bc1862 - born in Brooklyn before John (with or without his family) moved to Queensland, Australia where he lived with his parents for about 6 years before returning to the US and settling in Minnesota. As I do not have access to US records, I would appreciate any assistance with finding marriage details for John and Catherine as well as birth details for the children or any other sign of them in the records. I would also be interested to hear of any known shipping records between New York and Australia - Queensland in particular.
