Question: #1.) Would the original Social Security application for my grandfather have required some legal proof of his birth such as a birth certificate or baptismal record? He was supposedly born in 1883 and we have yet to find either of the two mentioned proofs. #2.) If such was required, would the SSA have record of it and be willing to share, or at least be able to tell us what was provided at the time of application?
