    1. [BKLYN] Green-Wood Cemetery & CW veterans
    2. FYI If you have an American Civil War ancestor interred at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NYC, you may want to email them informing them of it. Homepage: http://www.green-wood.com/ A few weeks ago I noted that the site for Green-Wood Cemetery stated they are honoring US Civil War veterans, and in an onlist post I asked what they are doing. I also shared that my g-g grandfather was a CW veteran, and that his name and those of his two single, adult sons can be searched on Green-Wood's site, but that his wife was omitted. I knew that the wife was interred there because in the 1980s, the cemetery sent me copies of each one's interment index card. A couple of years ago I emailed Green-Wood and asked them to update their site to include my g-g grandmother. They told me it was not possible. This week I received a lovely email from Green-Wood sharing that they added my g-g grandmother name, which is misspelled, to their burial search engine. They added that an historian would be contacting me. Today the historian wrote me, asking for biographical information about my g-g grandfather. They are planning a special Memorial Day event in 2011. Please take a few minutes to go to the homepage of Green-Wood, to check that your ancestor is correctly listed, by clicking on Burial Inquiry at the bottom of the page in small font. Then, email your veteran's name and plot location number. If we don't honor our own, no one else will.
