Ray and List, Do you have Internet Explorer 7 installed? I think I've had the problem with completely closing IE only since I went to version 7. It is annoying, but I just use the Windows Task Manager (press Ctrl-Alt-Del) to close iexplore.exe in the list of Processes. Can you use Firefox with ancestry.com? I haven't tried that.
