Deborah, Yes, you are right James St. is in lower Manhattan (your Dad was right) close to the Brooklyn Bridge. Like I said I found it on the 1866 and 1891 maps. It is located between Bowery (1866 & 1891) and at that point it is New Bowery on the 1891 map and Pier 31 and 32. Oliver St. is one block from James St. between Bowery and Pier 33 and 32. Mott St. is on the other side of Bowery between Worth, Bowery and Bleecker St. Henry Oklahoma _tmcorner@aol.com_ (mailto:tmcorner@aol.com) In a message dated 8/16/2008 2:05:48 A.M. These maps are great, I got them from The Memorabilia Corner their site is _http://members.aol.com/TMCorner_ (http://members.aol.com/TMCorner) . Henry In a message dated 8/15/2008 2:06:55 A.M. To: NYBROOKLYN-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <ce8.3b041cab.35d45e64@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Have looked for a James St in Brooklyn on past and present maps as well as lists of street name changes but cannot find a James St anywhere. I have a Brooklyn death certificate that puts the place of death at 8 James St, Ward 2. There is also a James St. ME Church on a Brooklyn marriage record. Just wondering if anyone has a clue as to where James St might have been located. Deborah **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. But it must have been in the City instead. If you find out anything - please post it - I am really interested in this. Seems like my Dad said something about being in lower Manhattan but I'm not positive at all. Can't think of the names of the streets he mentioned down there. (Like Mott St. maybe?) Then again - I always thought Brooklyn. Good luck - Gladys On Aug 15, 2008, at 1:06 PM, TMcorner@aol.com wrote: > I found James Street on an 1866 and 1891 map of New York between > Bowery and > Pier 31 and 32.
