I have three families in the 1870 census and I want to find out how close they lived to each other. That census did not have street addresses recorded. The only geographic information seems to be designation of wards and districts. Here are the three locations I have: New York ward 7, district 8, New York City (is this what is now Manhattan?) Brooklyn, ward 14, Kings county Brooklyn, ward 13, Kings county Steve Morse doesn't seem to be much help, or I just don't know how to use his data. All help appreciated. Terence, in 1870, Manhattan (New York County) was enumerated twice. The second enumeration includes street addresses.
