Cleaning out and catching up on back digests. Do you have Meehan ancestors, or any earlier Meehan information than the 1920s records posted to the Brooklyn list? I have a Catherine Meehan, born Ireland (possibly Co. Tyrone) about 1830, married about 1855 in NYC to Patrick Coyle, died Brooklyn 1903, buried in Calvary Cemetery. I've found quite a bit about Catherine and Patrick's family through the 1860-1900 censuses and NYC/Brooklyn vital records. She bore 16 children; I've identified 10 of them born about 1856-1878. All I know of the Meehan family is from Catherine's death certificate which gave her father as Peter Meehan, her mother as Mary with no surname. I'd love to discover more about her origins in Ireland and any other family members who emigrated to NYC or elsewhere.
