Various spellings of all these names, Families immigrated from Hesse Darmstadt & Baden in 1840's-1860's, lived in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. Some later went to Queens & New Jersey Jaeger, Knef, Schoenhals, Volkert are the immigrants from Germany Casper Moritz, Julius Raber, Isabella Marsh, Augusta Loeb, & Arthur Kiefer all married into the Volkert, Reith, and Zettner families My grandmother (Carrie Volkert) & her 2 sisters were Orphan Train riders in 1912 to Iowa Especially interested in William Louis Volkert Jr, b 1899, married Isabella Marsh in 1923, then disappeared off the face of the earth. As regards William Louis Volkert, you should consider whether he was born in 12-7-1901, married a Catherine Maher in 4-7-1926 and both died in Fort Myers, Florida. Both mentionned in the 1930 census in Queens. It is possible Isabella died or they got divorced. His parents were also William and Catherine in Queens. Ordering his Florida death cert would help.
