    1. [BKLYN] The Trow City Directory for New York, New York
    2. Thank you to all that tried to answer my two questions. And for all the trouble you went too. I realize now that the way I wrote the note may have been confusing. I work nights and was a bit foggy. If I may try again, I would appreciate a little more help with this. So I will start over. Your input or thoughts, and suggestions will help me solved some 'puzzles' ... This is what I still need to know: 1. What I need to know is whether the "John F. Trow Company" put out publications for only Manhattan, -or- did they -- combined the two cities of Manhattan and Brooklyn (since they were only separated by a river)? 2. How likely would it be for someone living in Williamsburgh (which was part of Brooklyn during the 1860's-1890's ) to have possibly worked over in Manhattan? I have seen in looking at the census records people that lived in NJ worked in Manhattan. Now, this is what I know to be true: 1. Williamsburgh was a part of Brooklyn during the years that were in question -- being 1860's, 1870's, 1880's and 1890's. 2. Brooklyn became a part of New York City in 1898. 3. Brooklyn had at least two Companies that published directories (Boyd's and Lain's). 4. I have knowledge of part of the geography of the area by studying maps of the time period in question (1860's-1890's). Thank you for your help and understanding, I will await another kind reply.
