It may be that this death was never reported to the Social Security Administration and therefore the information will not show up in the SSDI. You can still request a copy of the SS-5 but will need to show reasonable need for said document probably. Although I was able to get a copy of my grandfathers SS5 by sending a copy of the death certificate and stating that he was my grandfather on my Dad's side. He also got added to the SSDI after that.
