Shelley, I suggest you post to the Reid list also. If you do not get a bonafide relative, consider donating the photograph to the Brooklyn Historical Society. Here is information about donating items. http://www.brooklynhistory.org/library/donation.html Although many institutions will not take single portraits unconnected with other information or papers, its being taken at the Dana studio may make a difference. Edward Carey Dana, the photographer, was a first cousin of my great grandmother, and I have seen his photographs listed as being at many institutions around the country. Just make sure any "relatives" prove they are connected in some way as people sell old photos on line and at flea markets all the time. >Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2008 08:21:49 -0800 From: "Shelley Cardiel" <cardiels@comcast.net> Subject: [BKLYN] REID Family Photograph To: NYBROOKLYN@rootsweb.com I've "rescued" an old photograph of Samuel L. REID which was taken at the Dana Studio in Brooklyn, New York. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Samuel likely in his 40's at the time it was taken. I'm hoping to locate someone from his family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of his family. If you are a member of his family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley< Elizabeth W. Knowlton
