    1. [BKLYN] PHAIR, PHIER, THIER
    2. Betty
    3. Hello, While looking on-line for information on my HUTCHINSON families living in Brooklyn from the 1850's on, I came across the name, Gustave PHIER. I had found a Gardiner / Gardner SYMMES, 21, in 1910, marrying an Adele PHIER (living with her parents at that time). If I'm remembering correctly, one of my ex-brothers-in-law in Brooklyn married into a PHAIR family. I believe her father was a government official of some kind. I'm just curious if these are different spellings of the same name, or whether they are different surnames - with different origins. (I also found PHIER spelled as THIER in census records.) Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: I am looking for descendants of 3 HUTCHINSON siblings from the 1800's. John B. HUTCHINSON and his 2 married sisters, Mrs.Gardner SYMMES and Mrs. Elizabeth DODGE left the large HUTCHINSON Farm in Winchester, MA, during the 1850's and 1860's and moved to - Brooklyn. I am especially interested in male descendants of John. Of his 2 brothers who remained on the Farm in Winchester, Thomas and Jacob, there are no living male descendants. Unfortunately, there was one. I only found out about a Robert HUTCHINSON a year ago. He was killed in a car accident 2 years before that. Sadly, I found out he had lived about a 20-minute drive from my home. He had never married. (Many divorces and "never married" in this extended family.) (There was another sister, Mrs. Maria JOHNSON, in Winchester.) (Through HeritageQuest, I can look for census data up to 1920, but did not have too much luck finding the above families from 1900 to 1920.)
