Hello from New Zealand My great great grandparents were Richard James ROWE b 22 Sept 1824 in Tavistock, Devon, England. He married Elizabeth Ann Newcombe BABB on 8 December 1847. They had five children - Jane Newcombe ROWE who was my great grandmother and four brothers - William Babb ROWE, Richard James ROWE, George Newcombe ROWE and Walter Henry ROWE. Jane married Robert RUTHERFORD and moved to New Zealand, and her brothers Richard, George and Walter also moved to New Zealand. However William Babb ROWE moved to America and appears on the New York census in 1870. William Babb ROWE was born 26 December 1848. He met and married Eliza H Lampson in New York on 29 June 1885. They had one child (I have only been able to trace one through the census records). His name was Frank R ROWE born about 1887. Elizabeth also had two daughters from a previous marriage. Frank was born in New York about 1887 and married Helen V? Helen and Frank had one daughter - Dorothy born around 1914. I have copies of the census from 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 but the trail runs cold after this. I have not been able to find any trace of Dorothy or Frank & Helen after 1930. Does anybody link with this family? My main reason for tracking them is that these distant cousins were in contact with my grandmother before I was born and also when I was a little girl. I am now aged 56. Someone in that family sent a Ginny doll to me with a gorgeous wardrobe around 1960 (give or take a year or two). They also sent a tiny ring to my father's elder brother when that boy was only about 5 years old. I would love to find out who it was that sent the gifts and where the family has gone to now.
