    3. The Social Security Death Index was not computerized until 1962. The index contains very few deaths prior to that date. Even if the death was reported to Social Security, if it occurred prior to 1962, it likely will not be contained in the index. See RootsWeb's guide to the Social Security Death Index, at this link: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rwguide/lesson10.htm Mark Lomax California On 7/26/08, AllenAmet@aol.com <AllenAmet@aol.com> wrote: > > Hi > > I finally obtained the D-C for one Frank (=Francis) Stevens, who died in > NYC on Sep 19, 1958. > > It states, typed, that his SS # was 088-03-5994, and that he was born in > 1873. > > But when I enter that SS # in the SSDI, it gives NO result at all, or > name, so I can't use it for an SS-5. > > Any clues? > > Thanks. > > Allen > > > > > > > > > **************Get fantasy football with free live scoring.
