    1. Re: [BKLYN] recently hacked e-mails
    2. There are even more reasons to take this hacking stuff seriously...these "bugs" which get installed on your computer can also record passwords as you type them, thus giving them access to any financial accounts you access on line... Many times, these are not just pranks...someone is after your info in order to compromise your security. Also NEVER open emails from banks etc...even if you have an account there...go to the banking site and check your messages through that avenue...If you DO open something you think is from your bank, never click on links or give private info...your bank HAS that info, and if they don't they would never ask for it via email anyway...when in doubt call your bank or forward the email to the SPAM email set up by your bank (they all have email addresses to send questionable emails--although not always easy to find the address, sometimes easier to just call and ask them). It takes a lot to be safe on the internet these days...viruses can be planted on even the most harmless looking sites, sites that you would think safe such as Yahoo Finance. In the last few years, on the yahoo financial board for Washington Mutual, hundreds of people have gotten viruses that were planted for nefarious purposes (and probably planted by hedge funds) ...so even the safest appearing sites can be harmful... Keep a GOOD virus scan program running in the background on your computer 24/7...and also set up your scan program to delete ad tracking programs...many sites you go to these days try to install tracking programs on your computer so they can see where you go, what you do...most times the purpose for this is just to see your shopping habits etc for marketing purposes, but not always...so keep ALL eyes away from your computer by good protection running 24/7 on your system...you'll save yourself a LOT of headaches :-) Joyce In a message dated 11/11/2011 12:06:43 P.M. When this happened to me it was probably because I was staying signed in to my web mail address at Att.net. I now sign in only to check my online spam filter and then sign back off. The hackers sent spam to everyone in my address book and then deleted the address book. All my mail was redirected to the spammers address. It took nearly all day with Att tech support to straighten this mess out. My solution may not protect me in the future but I have eliminated one possibility anyway.
