Rebecca Further to my message re: Robert AS Pittman, there is a death certificate on file via Italian Genealogy Group web site which lists the following: Pettman, Robert A.J. age 59 DoD, Jan 31 1872, Cert # 1019, Kings County. Note, birth date would be 1813, the date for your ancestor. If you contact the Municipal Archives of the City of NY, either by mail or on-line, you can order a certificate.
