Times-Picayune, published in New Orleans, LA January 1 1854 Description: A Sad Story A man named Cornelius SULLIVAN, more than sixty years of age, was arrested in New York on the 22d inst., charged with having killed his son William, aged twenty-one. The inquest was postponed until the following day, in consequence of the absence of witnesses, but the reporter of the Tribune has gathered the following particulars. It appears that the son was dissipated and depraved, and had more than once drawn a knife upon his father and threatened his life. On the day previous to his death, he had enticed a younger brother from the house, against his father's commands, and on returning the old man reproved him rather sharply, when the son seized a stick of wood and attempted to strike his father. The latter threw a piece of wood at his delinquent son and drove him out of the house. On leaving the house, William ran up a hill, fell, and struck his head with considerable violence against a rock. He went back to the house, lay down on a bed, and grew rapidly worse, when he was sent to the hospital, where he died the following day.
