Hello, I have gone to Holy Cross many times over the years, to my own family's graves and to photograph headstones for others. I always go with another person. The cemetery is huge and you can find yourself in an area where no one would hear you or see you if you required assistance. I would not recommend going there alone; if you must, go to the office and ask if a security guard might keep an eye on you. I also would not be comfortable walking through East Flatbush alone. I hope this is helpful. The surrounding eighborhood could be scary at night. I always went in the morning and lthough the neighborhood was older and not as well kept as it could e, I did not feel unsafe as I did not see people hanging on street orners or large roving groups, etc. The cemetery itself is very icely maintained.
