Kim, It is doubtful that the Church would even have a record of the burial. They rarely keep death records as burial is not a sacrament. If you know the death date you might phone all the RC cemeteries in the area and ask if he's is buried there. In my experience, they usually give that info over the phone. He also may be buried in a National Cemetery such as Cypress Hills. That is, if he was a military veteran. There is a grave locator availble on line for that. It also might be worth looking in the Brooklyn Eagle for a death notice pre 1902, or Fulton Postcards if you think he died in the 20th C. If he died between 1835 and 1876, try the 4 volume set by James Maher of Death and Marriage Notices in the Herald Tribune which is unfortunately not digitized, but is available in many genealogy libraries.
