    1. [BKLYN] Help?
    2. Mary Beth Adams
    3. Hello,   I am new to the list and hoping for some direction from those who have researched German relatives in Brooklyn.   My great grandfather, Joseph J. Huber/Hoover, was born in "Williamsburgh", Kings County on 13 Sept 1846 to Petrus/Peter Huber/Hoover and Maria/Mary Helic/Halic/Heller.  He had an older brother, Frederick Xavier, born on 21 May 1845, also in Williamsburgh.  There was another brother, Anton, who was born about 1839, but I do not know if he was born in America or in Europe.  The father was from Baden and the mother was from Alsace-Lorraine area.  As far as I know, the family was Catholic. They left New York sometime between my great grandfather's birth and the birth of a younger sister in 1853 in Pittsburgh, PA.    I have no idea where to start my search in New York.  I've looked online at various repositories. Many of the churches were founded after my great grandfather's birth.  The NYC archives do not have births back that far.  I live in West Virginia, so I have to do this either online or by snail mail.   I would greatly appreciate any help.   Mary Beth Adams
