    3. Joyce, You are mostly right, but, you can see all the mail before sending. In order to see all the mail when you are ready to reply or forward and have made the selection to reply or forward, look to the lower left corner and you will see three little ... Click on that and then all the email then appears (as you can see in this email), and this gives you the opportunity to do all kinds of corrections and deletions in the reply/forward box. as well as seeing all of your outgoing post. Also that little down arrow gives you opportunity to edit the subject line. Hope this helps, Joanie Joan Parker Immediate Past President JGS of Greater Miami, Inc. 1) *GOLDBERG,GOULD, GOODSTEIN/GUDSTEIN, BERGER, JAGODA/YAGODA--*Lipno and Plock, Poland-Russia; Galveston, TX; Bronx and Brooklyn, NY. 2) *PARKER, PINKUS/PINCUS, WINOGRAD, ROSEN, (GERSHO-BEROVNA?)--*Brest ( Litovsk), Belarus; Grodno, Russia; Bronx and Brooklyn, NY. *WEISS, NEIBERG, DEL PINO--*Brooklyn, NY. 3) *GELFAND, KATZ, TROCK, KRITZOF*--Berezin/Bresin, Kodima, Minsk, Belarus, Bronx, NY, Miami and Miami Beach, FL. 3. I think part of the problem might be that many of us have switched to googlemail for rootsweb lists since having so much trouble getting list emails a while back. Although I asked one of the lists how to cut off the excess on google mail , no one replied so I am guessing some of you may be in the dark too about googlemail (which is really a weird email setup (JMHO) Anyway, when replying, there is an arrow in the upper L corner of your email. If you click on that it gives you the option to edit...your email will show up in a different box and you can edit out the excess text. In google mail you cannot see all the extra text going out with your email unless you do that... I hope this helps some folks...since I never got an answer when I asked on the list, I found out another way...I hope this helps those of you who made the jump to googlemail fro rootsweb lists. Googlemail is pretty weird (JMHO) and people cannot see what they are sending unless they click on the edit arrow in the upper left. 3. Have you tried http://bklyn-genealogy-info.stevemorse.org/Image/Map/1870.NYC1.jpg it is a map of Brooklyn with the wards listed. You have to locate your street and there are no numbers listed. You might also try the City Directory for 1869 and 1870 to see it there is a ward map or the co-ordinates listed. It's 30 seconds to be courteous and...not infringe on the original writer's copyright privileges. Let's use CAPS for surnames too, please. Barb -----Original Message----- From: Pat Connors via ny-irish@rootsweb.com I just reviewed about 5 messages that were held by Rootsweb for my review because of size. I rejected a few because the post was mostly repeated stuff. So let me remind you that when you respond to a post, please trim the repeated stuff, keeping just a small part of what you were responding to.

    1. [BKLYN] How to find TONS of data at familysearch.org
    2. Joyce Presnall via
    3. I hope this helps many folks out as familysearch, org is a fantastic resource that I have only recently begun to tap into. Finding WHERE the info is located can be difficult but I learned a trick on a video I watched about a year ago. GOOGLE for almost any topic you can imagine, if you google the term with the words familysearch.org AT THE END OF YOUR SEARCH TERM you will get many hits. Usually what you are looking for is in the first few hits. YOU MUST ALREADY BE SIGNED INTO THE FAMILYSEARCH SITE BEFORE THE LINKS YOU GET WILL WORK DO NOT USE QUOTES IN YOUR GOOGLE SEARCH If you are looking for info about Queens County as an example google the terms Queens County, New York, familysearch.org If you are looking for death records anywhere in New York State google Death records New York State familysearch.org (doing that brought me to ALL vitals--birth marriage and death) https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/New_York_Vital_Records Use it to google town names that you need more info on and need local resources. ALWAYS google the town, county and state you are looking for in the same way, making sure terms familysearch, org are at the end of your search terms OR you will get an error message. You are going to be amazed at the info you will find. Here are a few handy ones chart with probate links all over the state https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/New_York_Probate_Records Link for CHART of ALL Federal and NY State Census' tells you exactly where NY State Census' were done--not ALL counties have NY State Census--Westchester is one that was skipped for many years (or destroyed) https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/New_York_Census Here is a page with tips on browsing Fulton Postcards https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Old_Fulton_NY_Post_Cards HERE is a link for a list of ALL of their Collections BUT looking that through can be a bit tedious so always try to "zero in" on what you are searching for first. https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list Many of the county and state links also have addresses for people to write to for information such as clerks offices, courts etc. There is tons of info on that site, and I hope this trick will help you find what you are looking for. I am going out of town soon, so if you see someone looking for the WORD doc and I have sent it to you, please be kind enough to send it to them. Please feel free AS ALWAYS to share anything I post to other lists In fact I encourage you to PLEASE share this info with other lists. The more we all know about where to find info the more successful we will be. We should ALL be helping one another with how to find information, especially when that info is free. There are many things you need in genealogy that DO cost $...you cannot get around some of those, so DO take advantage of free info. Have a great day Joyce -- Researching Stephenson/Stevenson, Fleury, Heald, Lindelof, Young, Rubino, Cammarota, Mandracchia, Vaiarelli, Mulhern, Johnson, Haight, Erickson, Munson, Northrup, Sears, Camp, Gunn, Allen, Gorham, Plumb, Beard, Rogers, Eliot, Briscoe, Bradley, Mix, Wilmot, Pritchard, Mew, Stone, Sparke, Bayley, Bailey, Redfield, Redfin, Howland, Tilley, Sturgis, Hinckley, Kirk, Norton, Gerard, and many more...

    3. Joyce and all, This is not exactly true. If you read the entire court document, hopefully you will see, as I did with the 5 that I found, the details of the will spelled out after the proving is done. In other words, the beginning of the documents prove that those making the claim and the contents of the will are true and then the wishes of the deceased are spelled out. 3. While searching yesterday I noticed New York County is not set up like the other counties I have looked at. For them, will seem to be arranged a few years at a time in alphabetical order, so check the lists for wills in the time frame and last name you are looking for. The index at the bottom that says will index, is not an index for the wills at all. It is a list of testators. It probably won't help you. Newer wills (from about the 40's to present) are not indexed BUT many have index cards with a different type of numbering system. Those newer wills probably need to be obtained on a local level. It probably has to do with NY State privacy laws OR familysearch just does not have the newer stuff in their files yet. Many people die without a will, so checking the probate files might help you also when you search. There are a lot of different types of files on the page I sent out, so explore the others a bit too. The files are huge BUT you won't always find the person you are looking for.
