I am on FTM 2005, and I imagine your 2006 is similar. On the top of the page, in the toolbar, select Internet. Then there are 2 options for web pages. One is to create a family tree (it will create a tree as I have listed below my family names) , and the other is to contribute to world tree collections. You upload GEDCOMS for each. To create a GEDCOM go to file and select export a file. Then select GEDCOM as your file type. Once you have saved it to your hard drive you can upload it anywhere with that option. There are other sites, such as rootsweb, and then you would follow each sites individual instructions for uploading GEDCOMS. See my web page below done through FTM for an idea of the things you can add to your page through FTM...I think it is a very useful page design. Really great, helpful folks. ttp://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/ other/RootsWeb_Support/Freepages-Help.html If you want to upload a GEDCOM then Rootsweb World Connect Project is the place to go at rootsweb. Or check out http://tribalpages.com, another great place to upload your gedcom. I like tribalpages better for a family tree as I find it more user friendly. It is free unless you want to get their advanced features, and I do not know if there is a limit on tree size for free sites. Here are my sites if you want to see what I have done: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thecohens http://blumstein.tribalpages.com All software and websites enable you to configure the level of privacy according to your personal preference. But I do not trust the results without checking them as there are mistakes that can and do happen in determining if people are living or deceased if they were born before, say, 1920 or 1930. Freepages at rootsweb is html pages. If you want to use family tree maker then there is a rootsweb mailing list specific to FTM issues at rootsweb. One of the FTM lists is the following: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Software/FTM-2008-HELP.html Oh, I see it is the wrong version. Uh, then search for the other FTM lists at rootsweb. There are several that are more general. You can "browse the archives" of a list to decide if it sounds like the right one for you. Use the following to find other lists: http://bigfile.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi- bin/listsearch Yes, there is an option in FTM as all family tree software, to create a gedcom. But I do not have that program. You should be able to call Ancestry.com's tech support for help with that issue if the mailing lists do not meet your needs, but I would guess they should. I hope that helps. On 6/6/08, Karen <kromeo@aol.com> wrote: > Can someone on this list give me a pointer or two? > > After 11 years of researching, I decided to have a genealogy based web > page.? Hi List, I have just discovered that a branch of a family of interest to me spent time in Brooklyn in the 1850s. John McGUANE from County Clare, Ireland (probably from Kilrush) married Catherine Lynch in Brooklyn in 1854. The couple had four children - Daniel b8th April, 1855, Mary bc1858, Sarah bc1860 and Catherine bc1862 - born in Brooklyn before John (with or without his family) moved to Queensland, Australia where he lived with his parents for about 6 years before returning to the US and settling in Minnesota. As I do not have access to US records, I would appreciate any assistance with finding marriage details for John and Catherine as well as birth details for the children or any other sign of them in the records. I would also be interested to hear of any known shipping records between New York and Australia - Queensland in particular. With thanks, Jo Mitchell Geelong, Australia http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurches/

The Brooklyn site listed information from the English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation, providing an index for Baptisms, Confirmations, Marriages and Burials for the years 1923-1937. The information was posted by Mary Ellen Walz, who provided an e-mail address of billme@verizon.net to contact for look-ups. Unfortunately, that e-mail address no longer functions. Does anyone know if Mary Ellen still does look-ups, and how I could contact her? I am trying to locate old records from the Throop Avenue Presbyterian Church which was founded in 1862 in Brooklyn, New York. My grand aunt attended that Church for 40 years until her death in 1920. I contacted the Presbyterian Historical Society Presbyterian Church (USA) in Philadelphia, PA They indicated that in 1945, through a merger with the Rosedale Presbyterian Church in Rosedale, New York, it became known as the Throop Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rosedale, New York. In 1962, the name was changed to Throop Memorial Church Rosedale, located in Queens, New York. I then contacted the Presbytery of New York City. A woman named Melanie told me they do not have any records for that particular Church. She referred me to Throop Rosedale and to the Philadelphia Office. This woman said that all records were transferred to Philadelphia about 20 years ago. I wrote a letter to Throop Memorial Church, Rosedale and did not receive a response. I then e-mailed them a note and still no response. I then telephoned the Church and spoke to a very nice man who indicated that they did not have any old records and suggested I contact the New York Presbytery or the Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia. I guess I am right back where I started from. Is there anyone who has done any research on this Church? Any ideas where to go next? Many thanks, Joan R. Hello, I have a lady, Yvonne LAMOTHE, on my extended family tree. When she was a widow and had the name, Mrs. Yvonne JARRY, she remarried to Silas Dean LEWIS in 1952 in MA. This was Silas' 3rd marriage, and he was my grandfather. Yvonne was born in 1897 in Brome, Prov. of Quebec and came down to the Springfield, MA, area around 1919, and married her - to her boyfriend, Albert JARRY (also from Quebec). Over the weekend, I saw someone on-line Selling "childhood photos" of an - Yvonne LAMOTHE. She was also probably from the Prov. of Quebec, and there were French words in the album the photos were in. This Yvonne might have been born ~1900 to 1910. And, her family seems to have been living in NY or NJ in the 1910 to 1920 timeframe. This is not stated, but one of the pictures shows her at "Brighton Beach." So, I'm thinking she was part of a family possibly living in New York City. I have mentioned this on the Quebec Lists, and I've been told that LAMOTHE (sp?) is a very popular name in that Province. And there were at least 10 Yvonne LAMOTHE's in the 1911 census. I have no connection to these pictures, but they would be valuable to someone researching this family. Have a pleasant week. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: Silas Dean LEWIS was one of 13 children of John "Stanley" and Mary (CORKILL) LEWIS of Stoneham, MA. That's where most of the children were born and that's where they were raised. This would have been in the 1880 to 1920 timeframe. After the deaths of their parents in 1923 and 1924, the children moved to different areas. At least 2 or 3 children married in MA to spouses who had come from NY or NJ. (There is information on the 13 siblings in the archives of the MA Lists, and I am in the process of typing up a report on the siblings and their families.) FYI: Stanley and Mary were born in Liverpool, England ~1860. They became "British Home Children" (Canadian term) and were "shipped to Canada" in ~1874. They and siblings went to different families in Nova Scotia. Stanley and Mary married there but came down to MA in 1881. PLEASE LEARN ABOUT THE "BRITISH HOME CHILDREN." You will find information in the archives of the BHC List.

Hi folks I am new to this list - I think I may have traced my great aunt from Ireland to Brooklyn - she was Phoebe McConnell who arrived at Ellis Island in 1899 aged 22 - said she was going to one M McCartney at 2 Mill St, Newburgh. No matter what way round I spell name I can't find Phobe or a McCartney in Newburgh in 1900. In 1910 I just looked for Phoebe born 1876 + or - 5 in Ireland - anywhere in Us - not too many and the best fit was a Phoebe Graham - wife of Wm Graham living in Leopard St, Brooklyn. I have managed to track him back to his passage from ireland to US in 1895 and also found his naturalisation. I have Wm and Phoebe up to 1930 - always at same address - no kids. I know my Phoebe was still alive in late late 1940's. and i was led ot believe she had no fmaily so that one looks even more promising. Now in 1910 Phoebe and Wm were married 0 years so marriage was 1909 / early 1910. Now my question - can anyone tell me is there any way I can get or find the marriage of Wm Graham and Phoebe to see if she is indeed Phoebe McConnell. As Wm Graham was at same address- Leopard St, Brooklyn in 1900 which was before his marriage so I assume he married in Brooklyn.
