"This may sound like a really dumb question, but does anyone have any idea how one can track where/and by whom immigrant children were met and resided upon their arrival in the U.S., specifically in my case in 1854?" Have you checked ships arriving in Canada? Some of the immigrant children could be 'British Home Children', brought to Canada and United States by Dr. Bernardo, Annie MacPherson, Maria Rye associations. You can look here: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/index-e.html In summer, the ships went to Montreal and the children were trained to various cities. In Summer, the ships came in at Nova Scotia, sometimes Massachusetts. The children were either trained to various Provinces or stayed in the US. Hope this will be of help. 2. This may sound like a really dumb question, but does anyone have any idea how one can track where/and by whom immigrant children were met and resided upon their arrival in the U.S., specifically in my case in 1854? I've searched Immigration records, city directories, of course Census records (but the closest Census was 6 years after they arrived). Obviously, well maybe not obviously, but probably arrangements were made for them (at age 15 and 11) to be met by an adult. Any thoughts as to where I might try? Thanks, Judy Cincinnati

    3. Hi! I am trying to attach records to my Ancestry.com tree. I cannot find a family of mine that I found previously. It could be that I found them on Heritage Quest before ... don't remember, and stupid me, I didn't indicate WHERE they were found. This is the information I jotted down. 1900 US Census T623 Roll 1054 Page 274 New York, Kings, Brooklyn 4 June 107 Java Street line 33 STOLZ, Frank, head, May 1863, 37, m13, NY, Ger, Ger, clerk , Emma, wife, Aug 1861, 38, m13, 5/4, NY, NY, NY , Frank, son, Mar 1889, 11, NY, NY, NY, at school , Ida, dau, Jun 1892, 8, NY, NY, NY, at school , Harry, son, Oct 1894, 5, NY, NY, NY, at school , Raymond, son, Dec 1896, 3, NY, NY, NY The family name is STULZ (sometimes spelled STULTZ, STOLZ, STOLTZ, etc) Frank = Francis William Andrew STULZ Emma = Emma Theresa MASON I have tried multiple ways to find this family again. My best guess is the person who indexed the page had difficulty deciphering STULZ (or perhaps Ancestry.com missed this page altogether?) Any help would be most appreciated. Looks like if I have page and ED number I might be able to search that way? Thanks, Mimi
