    2. There is a reference to a Rev G Scheibe in Nov, 1874 that he officated at some wedding at a brides house in the NY Times. A quick check of the times shows no other references to him. Nr 48 Allen appears to be a street address but not familiar with street or avenues doing that time period. I have an 1865 Certificate of Baptism which does not name the church, although it might have been on the seal at one time. The minister's name is, as best I can figure, G Scheibel, and under the name it says No 48. Allen ____. If anyone is familiar with German churches of that era, I could scan a copy to him/ ************** Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. 2. It does look like James ME Church, now that you mention it and John Wesley is more than likely. There is another word after Wesley that could be Hill but it is really bad writing. Thanks for the lead. Deborah In a message dated 7/31/2008 8:16:24 P.M. The Church's name is one word plus M.E. Church after it. Looks like the first letter of the name of the church could be 'J'. I believe that address is a residence since I was able to find a Rev. James Montgomery at that address in the Bklyn City Directory in 1889-90 along with 2 other families. No idea if he was affiliated with the church listed on the marriage record. If someone has access to a 1906 Brooklyn City directory and can check for a one name Methodist Episcopal church with a possible pastor's name similar to John Werle, that would be a big help too. 3. I have indexed the book "The Earliest Churches of NY" by Gabriel P Disosway.  John Wesley's name appears on pages 219-224, 226, 228, 230, 232, 238 and 389.  I no longer have a copy of the book as I've donated it to my genealogy library.  Perhaps you could get it at your library or on interlibrary loan and check those pages. 2. Depends on what type of information and area you want to research. They have hiorical newspapers from 1690 and histpical documents. They also have obituaries from about 1980, and the SSDI (no big thing there as it is free via roots web and oyjrt places). YOu can check a listing of the historical newspapers at the site to see if it would be useful to you. Has any one tried Genealogy Bank.com. I get messages from them but have not tried them. There fee seems low $9.95 for a month. I think they are out of Tampa, FL. ************** Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today.
