That's a great site! Thanks for sharing it. I ran several family surnames thru it and was surprised to find some veterans who are buried in other than national cemeteries. Some veterans' wives are listed as well. For those who may be seeking the burial locations of family in any national veterans cemetery, this link is very helpful. Veterans who were buried at non governmental cemeteries, will not appear on this site. http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1 Many records go as far back as far the American Civil War. My family members have entrusted me with their personal information and I've promised that I'd do everything I can to protect their privacy. I see that our web address didn't display correctly. Sorry. Here's the corrected version . . . Hi Folks, Might anybody know anything about the http://mazurk.net families in Brooklyn NY from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s? The various surnames and first names can be found on our recently updated home page at the above link, and a brief history of our search for information, titled Raising the Dead, can be found in The Annals of Genealogical Research at http://www.genlit.org/agr/viewarticle.php?id=17 We've recently been trying to locate descendants of our ancestors in Minsk, with no success. Please take a moment to look at both of these, just in case you may be able to provide some information or advice relating either to Brooklyn or to Minsk. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks. Ken
Yes it can, I use it all the time. Can you use Firefox with ancestry.com? I haven't tried that. ************** Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. (http://autos.aol.com/cars-BMW-128-2008/expert-review?ncid=aolaut00050000000017 )
Ray and List, Do you have Internet Explorer 7 installed? I think I've had the problem with completely closing IE only since I went to version 7. It is annoying, but I just use the Windows Task Manager (press Ctrl-Alt-Del) to close iexplore.exe in the list of Processes. Can you use Firefox with ancestry.com? I haven't tried that. If you are using an operating system like ME or one before that Windows 2000, etc you will continue to have this problem. AOL may tell you to try this and that but frankly they don't know what they are mumbling about. Your best solution is to install an alternate browser such as firefox so you wont have this problem any more. Bottom line, older operating systems are not supported bu Microsoft and thats the way Bill Gates and company make their money by making things no longer functioning correctly causing a person to go to a store and bye the latest operating system. I have a problem which may or may not rest with my computer. Anytime I visit Ancestry.com I find it impossible to close Internet Explorer when I am through searching. It just locks up and refuses to close. This only happens when using Ancsetry. Their help section suggests downloading the latest updates from Microsoft which my computer does automatically but that doesn't help at all. Does anyone else ever have this problem? ************** Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Hello, I am trying to locate a baptism for a family from Brooklyn. The time is 1851 and all I know is that the family lived in the 11th Ward. In 1860 they were in the 11th Ward, District 3. This is an Irish Catholic family. There are quite a few churches from 1851 and before that were in Brooklyn but can anyone tell me which ones were in or close to the 11 Ward? I have current zip codes on these Brooklyn churches so if several zip codes would have fallen in the 11th Ward I might be able to find it that way. Is there a map that might break that down showing these old ward boundaries? Any help to help narrow the search much appreciated. Thanks very much. _________________________________________________________________ Got Game? Yesterday, while at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in North Tarrytown, NY 10591 [Westchester County] I was able to hand search surnames beginning with "M" in their burial register, years 1855 -1878. Earlier interment dates did not indicate details that later interments indicated. I did not record plot locations or visit headstones. What is listed here is all I transcribed. #937 Mary R., age 49, burial 8/18/1858 #938 Deborah L. , age 2, burial 8/18/1858 #977 Catherine, age 78, burial 3/2/1859; congestion of lung #2474 Jacob L., no age, burial 11/201869; removed from Chappaqua, NY #2475 Hannah R. no age; "old register shows as Deborah L. the 1870 census for Hempstead has Henry Mott, head, wife Emily,Ben Mott age 8 and Harriet Shaw 12. Emily is the widow of Jacob Shaw, Henry's first wife was frances unknown and Harriet Shaw is emily and Jacobs youngest daughter. BUT who is Ben Mott, could he be a son of Emily and Henry. Henry was 45 in the 1850 census so Ben could be a natural child of Henry and Emily. any ideas? Henry and Frances's son,Stephen Henry Mott in the 1850 census was age 12 and is my great great grandfather. thanks valerie
