Subject: BUTLER/CLIFFORD/LARKIN/OROURKE/BULGER/FRANK/GAFFNEY/HANSEN My ggrandmother, Catherine CLIFFORD came to Bklyn about 1860.? She left behind her father, Owen. and brothers.? My ggrandfather, William LARKIN, came over about the same time.? They married in 1860.? My grandmother was Mary Frances, born Dec. 1861.? She married Michael Joseph OROURKE about 1887.? My uncles by marriage are Bert Bulger, Henry Frank.? My aunt was Lucille GAFFNEY.? My father was Edwin William HANSEN. All lived in Bklyn until the 1970's. The BUTLERS are buried with my family in Holy Cross Cemetery and I think they might have been related to the CLIFFORDS.

I have three families in the 1870 census and I want to find out how close they lived to each other. That census did not have street addresses recorded. The only geographic information seems to be designation of wards and districts. Here are the three locations I have: New York ward 7, district 8, New York City (is this what is now Manhattan?) Brooklyn, ward 14, Kings county Brooklyn, ward 13, Kings county Steve Morse doesn't seem to be much help, or I just don't know how to use his data. All help appreciated. Looking for descendants of George Smith and Magdalena Hamm of Brooklyn, NY. Children were: Charles Martin Smith (1876-1928) who married Emma O. Groh and moved to Oklahoma. They had one daughter, Catherine Mildred, who married Walter Rey, and I have located their descendants. Kate C. Smith (b 1881), single as of 1910. Mildred Magdalene Smith (b 1884), single as of 1910. George Smith (1888-after 1950) who married Adeline Bryant and lived in Brooklyn and Queens, working as a book binder. They had one daughter, Gladys Smith. I am particularly anxious to locate descendants of Kate and Mildred M. Smith, if any. There is no index to Brooklyn brides for most of the 19-teens, so I have been unable to check for marriages. Have you tried the Yad Vashem Database online for testimony from Relatives of people who perished. Also, have you tried the NY Times And Hartford Courant on Proquest, WWI and WWII Draft cards as well As US Censuses on ancestry.com. There is a lot you can do from home. Hi: My Millers are all deceased and I have the information I need on them except where Peter F. was born in Germany His son Frederick married Louisa H. Webb (from England) in the USA but after her death in 1907 he married again - I know nothing about the second wife other than that she had a daughter. Naturally I hope that someone reading this might know of this woman, but other than that I wonder if anyone has an idea how how I can find her. I heave searched for the second marriage of Frederick but cannot find anything. Louisa died in St. Joseph's Hospital in Far Rockaway. As for Peter F. Miller - he was born in Prussia, Germany, but again - he is my biggest brick wall - have his death and burial at Greenwood but nothing else - I believe he was married in England but have no real proof. His wife was Sarah A. Bryant of London. Any help or ideas certainly appreciated. Gladys Gladys Jensen in Colorado

As regards William Louis Volkert, you should consider whether he was born in 12-7-1901, married a Catherine Maher in 4-7-1926 and both died in Fort Myers, Florida. Both mentionned in the 1930 census in Queens. It is possible Isabella died or they got divorced. His parents were also William and Catherine in Queens. Ordering his Florida death cert would help.
