    2. My Brooklyn Connections: William James BADGER, (b. 1862 Tyrone, Ireland) md. Elizabeth LAWSON (b. 1856 Bklyn) in Brooklyn, 1879. Abraham LAWSON, seaman, (b. 1814 Ireland or Sweden) md. Elizabeth HAMILTON (b. 1814 Tyrone, Ireland) in NYC, 1846. In Brooklyn from 1850 to 1904. (Ignaz) Joseph STOLL, shoemaker, (B. 1832 Rhein-Bayern) md. Elizabeth BERBERICH (b. 1830, Rhein-Bayern) in NYC about 1856. Michael SCHREIER, tailor, (b. 1832, Bavaria) and Charlotte KOENIG (b. 1833 Worms, Hessen) never married that I can find. They had 9 children. Andrew (Andreas) HANSEN, fisherman, (b. 1877 Norway) md Elizabeth BADGER Hickey (b. 1880, Brooklyn) in 1910 in Brooklyn. Heinrich Muller (Henry MILLER), tailor, (b. 1832, Minden, Hannover) md. Barbara KROPF (b. 1833 Bavaria) about 1857. Henry BAUMANN (b. 1864 NYC) md Anna MILLER (b. 1870 NYC) in 1889. Finding Abraham LAWSON and Joseph STOLL prior to their marriages is my stumbling block. In Abraham's case, depending on whether it's the census or naturalization records, he was born in either Sweden, at sea, or in Ireland.

We are stumped and unable to find John Hendrickson's (who died in Jan 1855) father and mother. John was married to Rosetta Thurston Our Abrams I was able to attach Charles Wesley Abrams to other LI Abrams. Our Jemmott came to Brooklyn early in the 1900s and we have been able to trace them backwards in Barbados. Our Soper I was able to go back to John and Mary Soper born in the late 1700's, but no further. My Dignan, Sadler, Silkenstadt, Strathmann and Zorns came in the US in the 1850 -1860s and I have done a very good job finding them.

I have some information on a relative and I was trying to find him in the 1930 census. I put his name in the search box but it could not find him. Now I was sent a copy of the census with him listed on in the 1930 census. I tried to find that page but could not. Then I tried to browse through the census and became very frustrated looking through all those pages. Is there an easier way to locate my relatives? I was sent a copy of the page but could not find it on my own. Could someone help me? I would like to see this page for myself and the other families that are around them. 1. [BKLYN] ROLLCALL name: HIGGINS
    2. Pat Jones
    3. All, Adding my name to the ROLLCALL list and asking for help on a look up. There are two Higgins' I know of who lived at one time in Brooklyn. They are related in some way. HIGGINS, Patrick, lived at 57 Washington Street, either Brooklyn or New York City, 1863 and possibly until 1865, according to the entry for him in the Emigrants' Saving Bank ledger. He was listed as a longshoreman in the ledger and would not have had his family with him at the time. He was from the Boyle area of County Roscommon, Ireland. HIGGINS, Miss Nellie, of Brooklyn who was visiting with her relatives in Decatur, Illinois in August, 1927 according to a newspaper article. dated 14 Aug 1927. I do not know anything more about this person unfortunately but would like a listing of all Nellie or Ellen or Margaret Higgins that were single or appear to have been single. The 1930 Brooklyn census lists a family on Kent Avenue and I have given that informtion below. Can you find more about them? I have located a Higgins family in Brooklyn in the 1930 Federal census living on Kent Avenue. Michael Higgins, age 74, and wife Mary, age 70, both born in the Irish Free State (no County given, immigrated to US in 1882), with children, all single, Nellie, age 49, William, age 37, and Herbert, age 25. Also next on the page is a Richard Higgins, age 28, with wife Martha, age 26, and daughter Alice, age 6. Richard was born in New York and is probably also a son of Michael. Alice may still be alive; if so, she would be about 84. I'd like someone to do a lookup for either of these people in city directories and/or phone books as I am brickwalled for Patrick Higgins; I do not know siblings or parents names for him, nor exactly where and when he was born other than marriage records and birth records for his children are all from the Boyle RC church in County Roscommon. He was my ggrandfather.

    3. Kelly, the Social Security Death Index doesn't give the place of death, it gives the "Last Known Residence." http://www.genealogy.com/genealogy/79_pamela.html?Welcome=1079575218 : "Do not be fooled into thinking the zip code or locality of last residence is where the person died. They may have last resided in Patterson, Missouri, but actually died in a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. In that case, you would never find a death certificate in Missouri." http://ftp.rootsweb.ancestry.com/pub/review/2008/0813.html#UsingRootsWeb : "Be careful when entering information on the last residence and last benefit; they do not necessarily represent the place the individual was living at the time of death."
