Does anyone have a copy of this book? (Final Camping Ground) Does it have a name index of those Civil War vets buried in Green-Wood? My gg grandfather Peter E Trotter died of his wounds in 1862 and is buried in Green-Wood. I have corresponded with the cemetery several times. I wrote and gave them a brief history of his service in the 79th NY Infantry and his death from his wounds. They sent me back a letter that they were forwarding it to the historian who was compiling the information. I never heard from him even though I wrote more than once. I would love to know if Peter is included in the book or on the CD and would purchase a copy if I knew he was included. I would be thrilled to think that there was now a marker on his grave. His wife and a son are buried in another section of Green-Wood. I can ill afford to spend the $30 at all. If anyone has a copy and would look him up, I would be very grateful. I live in Florida and do not have any access to the book or CD. Mary in Florida

MSNBC.com's Red Tape Chronicles addressed this very issue last year. This can also wreak havoc with your credit. If anyone is interested in reading about the problem/effects, you can do so here: http://www.zimbio.com/pilot?ZURL=%2FTerrorism%2Farticles%2F11%2FWill% 2BSocial%2BSecurity%2Bnumber%2Bverification%2Bslow&URL=http%3A%2F% 2Fredtape.msnbc.com%2F2006%2F03%2Fhidden_cost_of_.html Unfortunately even if you discover your number is being used, there seems to be little the government is willing to do to rectify the situation, for reasons including them getting two or more income streams off of one number. Even when you can prove your SSN is being used fraudulently, and even when it's destroying your credit rating. Please bookmark this page, and pass it on to other organizations and lists. The Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ is seeking photographs of headstones of Irish born, who were interred in America, IF the headstones name at least the Irish County. Also, they are seeking copies of Naturalization records of Irish born, which again include the citizen's Irish place of origin. For additional questions, you may contact Christina at filidh@carolina.rr.com ====================== Barb, We are glad to take records like Naturalization extracts if they tell where in Ireland the person was from. Also headstone photos if they name the county in Ireland. Your Bible would be of interest if it gives the location in Ireland. We are taking these records in hopes of helping people who don't know that county. We would love to have this type of record to share. Joyce, The reason would be so that they appeared to be naturalized or native born citizens, rather than illegal alliens. I think that you are saying that using the Soc Sec number of another person was not necessarily meant to defraud the specific person whose SS # they used. That may be the case, but it is still fraud against that individual and the government. When I worked for a state workers comp system, we often found SSN's that were compromised in that illegal aliens gave the numbers when they applied for jobs. There did not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it...they just made up a number it seems...so the illegal aliens wages were actually being added to that person SSN account Just because a number has been used by someone does not always have a sinister implication such as ID theft.
