    2. Someone gave a very detailed listing on what to find on a certificate listed below but I just want to make an additional 3 points: 1 On birthplace - On some that I have seen, it has been just a country but others have given a town and country. For me, it was the birthplaces in Germany that had the town down. 2. For the person who officiated the ceremony - I have seen it both ways - just the names & address but in a few cases there has been the actually church name down. However, you can take that name of the person who officiated and go to a city directory and find out which church, he was associated with by using either the name or address. 3. The Italian Genealogy Group has compiled a database of marriages in NYC - go to One-Step Webpages by Stephen P. Morse at _http://stevemorse.org/_ (http://stevemorse.org/) Half way down the page, there is a section on Births, Deaths and other Vital Records. Go to NYC Groom Index (1864-1936) or NYC Bride Index (?-1937). With the certificate number, you can to NYC Municipal Archives on Chamber Street to get the certificate. There is no hard or fast rule about what you will find on a certificate. It depends on the bride and groom who gave the information and the person who took the information down. On the cert expect to find: -bride's and groom's names, addresses, ages, color, marital status, birthplace (usually the country if an immigrant) -groom's occupation -father's name (for both) -mother's maiden name (for both) -number of this marriage (for both) -place and date of marriage -signatures of bride and groom -witnesses' names and signatures -name, address, and signature of person officiating the ceremony (usually does not include the place, i.e. name of church)
