The Bronx did not become a county in its own right until 1914, and for administrative purposes it was considered part of Manhattan until 1914. I saw some of your other postings where you said Andrew Flood likely died between 1910 and 1920, and that the house on Wallace Avenue in the Bronx was in the family for 100 years. If his estate involved real estate, there should have been a will filed either in Surrogate Court in Manhattan (1910-1914) or the Bronx (1915-1920). Surrogate Court has jurisdiction where the residence of the deceased was. Andrew may very well have died completely outside the five boroughs. No matter. If he left a will or his widow filed for Letters of Administration, there will be a record in Surrogate Court. The record should also contain information about where and when he died.
