The NYC Borough of Manhattan is coterminous with the New York State County of New York. Circa 1898 - 1913, the Borough of Manhattan and the Borough of the Bronx were jointly coterminous with New York County. In 1914, Bronx County, New York's 62nd and youngest county, seceded from New York County and, since that date, the Borough of the Bronx is coterminous with Bronx County. Thus, you should look at Surrogate Court records for Bronx County and New York County, but be aware the fee for one probate file lookup is $90. There are also per page copy fees, and there may be a difference between fees charged for certified and uncertified copies, if available.
