    3. I certainly can vouch for the fact that the NY Foundling Hospital was of absolutely no help at all to me concerning Michael and Catherine Duffy's daughter, Catherine Duffy who was born in 1927 as far as I have been able to find out and died in Westchester NY in 1978. I located her because of my inability to find her parents in 1927 hoping I could find out more about her parents. By deduction, Michael must have died in 1927 shortly after Catherine's birth, but I can't verify this without a death record or an obit. Catherine Jr. was born that same year, and must have been a change of life baby. Her mother must have died sometime between her birth and 1930. I can't tell when with any certainty, again without an obit or certificate of death. Catherine Duffy Jr. was found at the NY foundling hospital in the census of 1930. In 1942, she was living with her uncle George Enders in New Jersey according to his registration for WW2. He would have been her only closest living relative with the exception of my mother and her brother who were totally unaware of her birth. Their mother had died in 1900. George never married, but had lived with Catherine and Michael after they married. I can't find an obit on Michael either, nor do I know when he died. As far as I can tell now, I am her only living relative beside another three other cousins, one of whom is somewhere in Pennsylvania, maybe even Leavittown, but I haven't been able to find him either. None of these cousins know of her existence yet. She never married as far as I can tell. I have not found an obit for her either. I wrote a long letter to the hospital asking for conformation of their Catherine's parentage, including that there were no other living relatives, at least on her father's side, and I would like to confirm that she was my Catherine. The reply I got didn't look like a form letter, but surely it was the closest thing. In short, they said you are not a direct descendent, therefore we cannot give you any information. I couldn't help responding with a thanks for nothing response. She had none. Her grandparents on both sides were logon gone, and here uncle George is dead and never married on her mother's side, and on her father's side, the grandparents were all dead all uncle or aunts were dead before 1940, in fact, since 1935 when the last one died. All she had was cousins, and I , and two of my Uncle's sons am the last of the living second generation cousins. So, in short, Orphanages might not be a good source for info. They are protecting their clients dead or alive, and when is common sense ever applied to governmental services!!
