Author: Irishlass45_98 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.bronx/3502/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to find a photo that was taken at the 1954 Our Lady of Assumption School Dedication. It was of Fr. Flattery and my cousin who was about two and half at the time. My cousin is looking up to Fr. Flattery who is seated on the platform. I could have sworn it was in the Daily Mirror but I checked the paper out at the 42nd Street Library and it wasn't there. It must have been in the Daily News. I plan to be up in the NYC area in about two weeks. My question is: what other newspapers covered the Bronx? I doubt it was in the Journal American because that paper didn't have as many photos as either the Daily Mirror or the Daily News. I also can't see it being the Bronx Press Review. Were there any other newspapers that covered the Bronx in 1954 other than the ones I mentioned? Also, I always wondered why is the library referred to as the 42nd Street library (at least it was in my day - 1945 to 1978)? It's between 40th and 42nd and facing Fifth Ave. Thanks. 3. My time at OLA predated the new (1954) school. Have you tried www.bronxboard.com? I know they have some class pictures for 1954 and later. Also have you asked the parish or school? I would think there is probably a dedication book. Another newspaper possibility may be the Parkchester Press or Parkchester Review; I'm not sure of the name and I believe stopped publishing a long time ago. -------------------------------------------------- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2008 10:59 AM To: <NYBRONX-L@rootsweb.com> Subject: [NYBRONX] 1954 Our Lady of Assumption School Dedication photo > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: Irishlass45_98 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.bronx/3502/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I'm trying to find a photo that was taken at the 1954 Our Lady of > Assumption School Dedication.
