The first record is the WW II Draft record for Thomas Meskill, DPOB: June 29, 1894 in County Clare, Ireland. He lived at 2440 Marion Avenue, Bronx, NY and was a fireman for the NYC FD. His employment address was a firehouse at 223 E. 119 Street in Manhattan. He listed a close relative as mr. D. Meskill, 34-36 42 Street, L.I. Slight scar on cheek 5'9", 200 lbs. Registered for the draft on April 27, 1942. There was an article in the NY Times, Feb 8, 1934, p. 22. He fractured his left arm fighting a fire at 349 E 118 Street in Manhattan. The article mentined his home address: 454 E. 137th Street, Bronx. He was a member of Engine Co. 35. Susan McMahon, age 22, arrived in NY on the S.S. Celtic on April 26, 1913, occupation: servant. She last resided in Brisla, Ireland and her closest relative there was her mother who lived in Brisla, County Clare, Ireland. Susan intended to join her aunt Bess Honan at 26 48th Street, Pittsburgh, PA. Griffth's Valuation, a mid-19th century tax record that serves as a census substitute, indicates that the McMahon and Mescall families occupied properties in the townland of Brisla, East in the civil parish of Kilmacduane, Union of Kilrush, Barony of Moyarta, County Clare, Ireland. The people named who paid rent were John and Mary McMahon, and Timothy, matthias and Jeremiah Mescall. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
