    1. Re: Using the FHC catalog to locate a record...FOR EVERYONE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: SCHINNERER, BAYER, LAVENDER, KING, ROVER, RÖVER, JORGENSEN, HARTMAN, LEITHAUSER, LEITHAUSSER, NIELSEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JRB.2ACE/1625.1.3.2.1 Message Board Post: Reposted with spelling corrected :) Dee and everyone else who is confused by the IGI and finding the correct film #, There are so many parts of the LDS catalog, that I learned it all by trial and error. For your ggrandmother (Martha Iba...of Niederellenbach, Germany) I found her in the IGI and saw the listing. It has a batch and film number. I clicked onto the batch # 7101325 and when the next page comes up I do nothing but click search. Then on the next page scroll down until you see her name. You will also see the name of her brother (perhaps). Make a note of the place of the christening....Niederellenbach. You can use this to find the film where this record is located. Go to Family HistoryLibrary Catalog and hit the place search and then type in Niederellenbach. click on Germany, Preußen, Hessen-Nassau, Niederellenbach. Then click on Germany, Preußen, Hessen-Nassau, Niederellenbach - Church records, and then click on Kirchenbuch, 1659-1875 Evangelische Kirche Oberellenbach (Kr. Rotenburg) . When you get to the next page, in the upper right hand corner click view film notes. You will then see Taufen, Heiraten, Tote, Konfirmationen 1830-1875 (Niederellenbach) FHL INTL Film 475699 .....now my bet is that if you order this film, you should find a birth record for both she and her possible brother. You said below >>>So, what you are saying is that if I get a NY death or birth certificated number from another source, I can order a photo copy of the actually certificate as long as I put the film number. <<< Yes, as long as you identify the film that the actual cert is on. also can be done for naturalization and marriage. Lastly, you write >>>There is a marriage listing for an Anne Rolston and a William Rolston on September 9, 1846, I have Batch No: M701621, Call No: 0101072, Film. Is the call no: what I need to put down? <<<< Using what I did above if a different way...go to the marriage listing and click on the call # and it brings you to Marriage records, 1845-1870, with indexes to marriages, 1845-1921, in the General Registry Office of Ireland. Again click on view film notes and there you find the specific film that this marriage is listed...FHL BRITISH Film 101241 . I do hope that this helps. Gail California
