Seneca Ave appears on late 19th century maps of the area - most likely as a paper street. The area was not developed until about 1908, when the Hunts Point Realty Co. began cutting through streets, hooking up utilities, etc. It appears that they only began selling lots in what was known as the Faille tract at that time. There was some construction on Faille St. as early as 1907. It was, and still is, about 6 blocks long running from Hunts Point Ave. to Edgewater Rd. near the Bronx River. House numbers began appearing in about 1910 and they have always ranged from 1200 to 1500 Seneca Ave.
