Hi list, I received the following query -- is their anyone out there that might be able to help? [Dear Helen M. Imburgia, my grandmother Mrs.Ruth Sophia Johnson and her husband John left Sweden the 5th of january 1929 to become one of thousands emigrants living in Bronx. They became members of the Swedish Immanuel Cong.Church where they also worked as a caretakers (adr. 990 East 181 Street). Their sons Chester (birth unknown) and Stanley (birth 20/1 1935) were born at Women Hospital. My grandmother in very sensitive and happy words discribe the feeling of becoming a mother in the new country. In various letters as year passes, they allow us, the family in Sweden, to follow their struggle day by day (adr. 455 East. 179 st Bronx N.Y. 57. where they lived for 30 years, top floor). Unfortunately the 18th of april 1975, the day when my grandmothers died, all contact stopped. My only living uncle, Stanley Jonsson (their American way of spelling their surename), will soon become 70 year and I wish I new if he still is alive, and if so, where he lives today. I have tried everything without any result - I can not find him. Therefore I humble ask you living in Bronx N.Y. USA to help me to find him. If so, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am locking forward to here from you. Your sins. Beatrice Baudin.] [email protected] This was my response: Hi Beatrice, Sorry, I do NOT live in the Bronx -- I live in Delaware Co., PA. I did find the following in the Social Security Death Index but I did not fine Ruth's sons: RUTH JONSSON 18 Dec 1897 Apr 1975 10457 (Bronx, Bronx, NY) 065-52-7064 New York You may want to contact their church & see if they know where Stanley JONSSON may be living. He might be in a nursing home affiliated with the church. I will forward your query to the Bronx mailing list -- someone their might be able to help you. :) I wish you the very best in your research & hope you find your Uncle Stanley. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
