I am still trying to connect my line to anyone elses i found Abraham with family in 1850 census listed as Westerfelt at West Farms in Westchester County Before it became part of the Bronx. I beleve he owned or was part owner in a Iron Foundry. His son George and himself are listed as founders in 1850 and some of the sons are listed as moulders on later census. There was also a Cornelius Westerfelt that lived in West Farms at that time who was also a iron founder i would think he almost has to be family a brother or cousin. Henry and Sarah are new to me and i beleve there may have been other sibling also. the family dosent match close enough in the family book to connect yet. As alway thank you for any help. While answering a query that was postred to "[email protected]", I came across the following: IN MY FATHER'S BAKERY A Bronx Memoir By Marvin Korman Here's one source's (http://www.redrockpress.com/bakery.html) review: "This beautifully written remembrance restores to life --- in all its color, humor and magic --- a vanished New York neighborhood of European Jews, Irish Catholics and others as it was during the Depression and through World War II. The author unrolls before you prizefights in the Bronx Coliseum, baseball in the original Yankee Stadium and pinochle in the bakery backroom. Yet bread, the staff of life, is at the center of this work. In an easygoing, novelistic style, Mr. Korman delivers such vivid portraits of bakery regulars that you, too, will feel you are in the bakery, eating devil's food cake and eavesdropping (while pretending to do homework) as scenes of crisis or celebration spill before them. The author's powerful vignettes focus on individuals: among them the grocer, the baker and the local bookmaker. You will also meet a local politico, a lonely wartime wife, gypsy tinsmiths, and a magician - who is not the only closely observed character who pulls surprises out of his hat. Marvin Korman is too keen a chronicler to serve up mere nostalgia along with the bakery's recipe for butter cookies, the one with the maraschino cherry in the middle that mother mailed to their boys in the service. Mr. Korman's stories are delivered fresh-baked and warm, with irony enough to assure a memorable bite." Regards, Walter Greenspan

Put in Clinton Martin and NY. There is one listed there for Yonkers H.S. and from your year of marriage, his graduation range of 1958-1962 seems about right. The only problem with classmates.com is that you can't email from their site unless you are a paid member. It might be worth it for you to join and then hope the email address they have for him is still valid. I hope it works out for you, let me know if it does. Tony

The 1826 address you mention is between East 175th Street and Fairmont Place, just north of the Cross Bronx Expressway. That area saw a lot of decline in the 1970's and 1980's, and some new development now; I don't know if the original building is still there now, but you could probably get a picture of it from the NYC Archives/Division of Records and Information Services [DORIS] through www.nyc.gov. In the 1930's a WPA project was to photograph buildings in the city and many can be found through this source. Good luck in your research.

I have a Great Grand Uncle Nicolaus (John) AUER who was born in Baltimore, MD in 1859 to Frederick AUER & Louisa BECKMANN. (John) married Mary ELLEN or LARKIN the 6th of December 1880 in New York City and they had 8 known children. I would like to clear up the mystery of her maiden name. If anyone on this list knows anything about this family, please e-mail me. I have been able to trace the Auer's back to the 1600's in St. Wendel, and Vallendar, Germany. The other NYC family surnames I'm interested in are: ATWOOD, BICKERSTAFF, BIGGERMAN, CALVER, GROESBECK, HOGG, PRICE, SCHNATTERBECK/SCHNADERBECK, STEHLING/STELLING, STOCKMAR, WICKWARE, ZEDER and a few more I'm probably not remembering at this time.
