Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JRB.2ACE/1557 Message Board Post: I am interested in locating people or their descendants with the following addresses that I found in my grandfather's address book after he died. They are generally likely to be related. Ida Fishman (cousin) 2546 Matthews Ave Bronx 67 NY TU2-5087 Grandpa had included the cousin notation, but no indication of how she was related. Mrs. Stein 1027 Walton Ave Bronx 51 NY Could she have been grandpa's aunt? But the address book has no first name and a common surname. The following notes are from my late mother on my grandfather's family. Aunt in Brownsville or Staten Island was Brandel Aunt Anna and Uncle Ziese lived in the Bronx These were Fishel’s sisters. Based on this I think that Mrs Stein might be Anna (or Ann or Hannah).

A Feast of Ancestors! Enjoy Free Access to the Register Online Over Thanksgiving Weekend! NEHGS is pleased to offer free access to its New England Historical and Genealogical Register database on New England Ancestors.org over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Normally only available to NEHGS members, the Register database will be accessible to everyone from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28, 2004. We encourage all NEHGS members to spread the word about this offering, and we hope that those of you who are not members find a veritable feast of ancestors in the Register database! Published quarterly since 1847, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register is the flagship journal of American genealogy and the oldest journal in the field. The online database includes issues from 1847 to 1994. The Register has featured articles on a wide variety of topics since its inception, including vital records, church records, tax records, land and probate records, cemetery transcriptions, obituaries, and historical essays. Authoritative compiled genealogies have been the centerpiece of the Register for more than 150 years. Thousands of New England families have been treated in the pages of the journal and many more are referenced in incidental ways throughout. The articles in the Register range from short pieces correcting errors in print or solving unusual problems to larger treatments that reveal family origins or present multiple generations of a family. Look for details on how to obtain free access to the Register in a special eNews bulletin to be sent out Wednesday, November 24. A link will also be available on that date on the home page of our website, www.NewEnglandAncestors.org

On 11/19/04 (8:04:54 PM MST), in a posting to [email protected], Cindy ([email protected]) asked, "Could someone help me with the Ward and ED for the following address. It's possibly in Brooklyn. Trying to find John Kelly in 1910: #9 Perot Street, Kingsbridge, NY, NY" Kingsbridge is a neighborhood in the Bronx; and, in 1910, the Bronx was still part of New York County (the Bronx County was formed from parts of New York County, that originally had been part of Westchester County, in 1914). You might want to post your query to [email protected] and also to [email protected] I hope this information is useful or, at least, interesting. Regards, Walter Greenspan
Hello, My name is Sherry Gelbwasser. My grandfather was Nathan (Nusyn) Gelbwasser from Warsaw who immigrated to New York during the early 1920's. When I was doing my research on my grandfather's family, I found Isaac Gelbwasser, his wife, and their three children who also immigrated to New York through Ellis Island, but they weren't ever a known part of my grandfather's family or of his life for that matter. Can anyone help me try to bridge this connection between my grandfather's family and Isaac Gelbwasser's family? Many thanks. Sherry Gelbwasser, M.L.S., Ed.D.
