For instance, in the 1875 State Census, it says that James Caldwell was born in Wyoming County, but Wyoming County did not exist yet. I can only assume that in 1875 the area he was born in was in Wyoming County. Other information has said he was born in Allegany County. I would love to find out more about his parents and siblings, but am not sure what direction to go. I spoke to a Historian in Wyoming County and he said that Pike, Eagle and Genesee Falls were a part of Allegany County at one time. They are now a part of Wyoming County. Does anyone else have any ideas?
