Carlin, 95, of 7256 County Road 20, died Tuesday (March 23, 2004) at the Wellsville Manor Nursing home, following a brief illness. Born October 5, 1908, in Elks, Pa, she was the daughter of John L. and Julia E. Douglas Carney. In the early 1940's she married Merle Carlin who died June 11, 1969. Mrs Carlin had resided most of her life in Friendship, coming from Galeton, Pa. in 1940. She had attended the Galeton School District. From 1946 until 1967, she and her husband moved to Prineville, Ore. while maintaining their Friendship home. After her return, Mrs Carlin cared for eiderly people in the area. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and baking and cooking. She loved her family and her church. She was a member of the Nile Community Church and the Wellsville Home Bureau. Surviving are three sons, Thomas J Carlin and Lonny M (Rita) Carlin all of Friendship and William D (Janine) Carlin of Cuba, many grandchildren and several great and great, great-gr! andchildren, four brothers, Harry Carney, Richard (Carolyn) Carney, and Arthur (Marjorie) Carney, all of Friendship and John (Doris) Carney of Tucson, Ariz., two sisters Loretta Sisson of Portville and Betty Young of Friendship and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Larry G Carlin, a brother Alfred Carney, six sisters Mary Lehman, Lovina Merrifield, Violet Giles, Frances Merrifield, Julia Jordan, and Sarah Calhoun. Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home in Friendship from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday where funeral services will be held at noon Monday. The Rev. Leslie Chambers, of West Clarksville, will officiate and burial will be in Parker Hills Cemetery, Loucks Mills, Pa. Memorials may be made to the church of the donor's choice.
