I just found out this week that some of my Ward ancestors are mentioned in this book, specifically my great-great grandfather, Moses Ward of Cheshire, Ontario County, NY and two of his sisters (Polly Ward Hawley and Phebe Ward Abbott) and their husbands (Andrew Hawley and Salmon Abbott) who were among the first settlers in the Oil Creek/Cuba area. Moses wrote a manuscript about his early life and adventures in the wilderness as he travelled back and forth from Ontario County to Allegany County to visit his sisters and chapters 12 (starts on page 70) and 13 are made up entirely of excerpts from this manuscript.
