CHAMBERLAIN, 77, died at the Veterans Hospital in Batavia today (June 18, 1968) following a long illness. He was born in Caneadea, a son of Daniel W. and Maria EMMERSON CHAMBERLAIN. On June 30, 1920, he married Winnifred EDMUNDSON, who survives. He was educated in Caneadea grade schools, and graduated from Belfast High School in 1911, and from Syracuse University in 1916. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Caneadea, of Western Union Lodge 146 of Free and Accepted Masons, member of the Caneadea Grange, Allegany Past Masters Association, past deputy grand master of the Allegany Masonic District, past adjutant of Craig Hitchcock Post 412, American Legion, served as justice of the peace in Caneadea; supervisor of the Town of Caneadea from 1935 to 1951. In 1942 he was selected chairman of the Allegany County Soil Conservation district board of directors. Surviving besides his widow are three sons: W. Page CHAMBERLAIN of Caneadea, Hugh D. CHAMBERLAIN Jr. of Warsaw, Clifford F. CHAMBERLAIN of Oneida; a daughter Mrs. Charles (Helen) MAHONEY of Fort Collins, Col.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers: Donald E. CHAMBERLAIN of Snyder, and Merton CHAMBERLAIN of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and several nieces. Friends may call at the Walcott Funeral Home, Belfast, beginning on Wednesday (June 19, 1968) at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dwight MONTGOMERY of Rushford, pastor of the Caneadea Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Belfast.
